Tools for your PDA

The following applications are available for Palm OS. This operating system works on both PCs and Macs and with many PDA’s. Make sure you check the list of compatible devices for each applications before you download it.
Scale Tune
Scale Tune is a great application to have right in your pocket at all times. It can tackle the job of a tuner, metronome and stopwatch. It has a piano keyboard and a scale
chord, interval, melody & note trainer/player as well.scale-tune.jpg

For all of this functionality you would think that the price would be a lot higher, but it is reasonably priced too.

EarMan by RoGame Software is helpful for improving your ability to identify intervals. The user can set it up to work on specific problem intervals or ranges or just progress through the curriculum from individual intervals to compound intervals.
EArMan

RoGame has also created a musical dictionary called Almond. Its database includes common musical terms as well as German and Italian terms. Definitions can be copied to the clipboard. This is especially handy if you are trying to put together a worksheet or test in your spare time.

Enjoy using these applications. They will definately lighten your teaching bag (if you travel when you teach.) Many of them are available in trial versions and cost very little.

  1. Here's a stupid question. If we're talking about PDA software, where does the concern over Mac vs. PC come in to the picture. There are no Mac PDAs, only Pocket PC (now named Windows Mobile) vs. Palm. Are you referring to the set-up of the software onto the device being Mac or PC only?

  2. I apologize for the mis-information. There are no Mac or PC applications. However, the applications are device specific. Please be sure to check the list of supported devices (PDAs) before you purchase an application.
