We are pleased to announce that we have launched the mobile app for Music Teacher’s Helper! This app will allow you to quickly access important information on your Music Teacher’s Helper account through your mobile phone. The app will work on the iPhone, Android, Blackberry, and other smart phones with web-kit enabled browsers.
To access the mobile app, open up your cell phone browser and go to: http://www.musicteachershelper.com/mobile
We’ve kept the mobile app clean and simple. It’s not meant to be a fully-fledged version of Music Teacher’s Helper, or a replacement for it, but it should give you the information about your studio you’ll need to access while on the road. (Actually, don’t use it while driving, okay?)
On the Music Teacher’s Helper mobile app, you can review your student lists and their contact information, see a list of your upcoming (and past) lessons, reconcile your lessons, view a summary of each student’s billing status, and see your studio’s financial transactions, payments, and invoices. Currently, the mobile app only supports teacher logins – students and parents cannot login. We’ll be adding more functionality to it as time goes on.
We hope you enjoy this new way to access your studio. It’s been our number one request for quite a while, so we’re happy to finally be able to give it to you. Check out the mobile app today and let us know what you think!
Hey Guys,
Congratulations! This is a great step. However I must admit, the main reason I personally wanted a mobile app was to be able to book/schedule lessons away from the office. You get a call or a new registration e-mail, you contact them, agree on a start date and then open up your mobile app to put it on the calendar right then, rather than trying to remember to do it once you get back to your office.
I hope you guys have plans to add that later. I do really appreciate being able to view the scheduled lesson thoughl!
Thanks,
Ron
Thanks for the feedback, Ron. I’m glad you like the mobile app. We’re definitely open to adding more functionality as well. Since screen space is so limited, we wanted to see where the greatest demand is first. So far it’s looking like it will probably be in areas like adding events and payments.
Sounds very nice for those traveling teachers. MTH is amazing.
I do not use web on the go, yet
I think it will eventually come to that as more and more people get it and expect one to have it.
I am happy to hear that you are adding this function for the parents/students as many times they are waiting in the driveway and wonder how much they owed or on a vacation and forget when lessons resume.
All good
Yay! Especially because all the Apple store people have had little luck (some, but tedious) in getting my MTH schedule to appear on iCal so I can see it on the iphone. This is a GREAT addition to MTH!
I’m curious, Leila, although obviously limited/difficult to do, how did the Apple folks get your MTH calendar to sync with iCal? (I’m assuming that you weren’t able to indicate specific appointments, but did it at least indicate time blocked out for teaching?)
Excellent! I’ve been waiting for a mobile app for MTH as a die-hard iPhone addict who uses various apps in lessons. This is a great start but I’d really love to see a view of the calendar and ways to add payments and create invoices on the go–especially helpful for new student sign-ups. I think since many of my parents and adult students are mobile web users, they would probably also appreciate access to this app so they can check their lesson times, billing, etc. on the go. Thanks again for making us mobile!!!
I also have the same question about getting the calendar to sync with iCal. Is it possible?
MTH syncs fairly well with Google Calendar (CalenGoo is the app). There are slight hiccups.
I am wondering if you will be making this into an actual downloadable app? I have an ipod touch that I use as a PDA. It would be great if we could go in directly through a MTH app instead of through the internet and then through a bookmark. I don’t know if this means added cost for you (and eventually passed on to us) for the app itself. Thanks!
@Heidi – Yes, we have toyed with the idea of creating a native iPhone app, but no guarantees yet. In the mean time, you can create an icon for the mobile app on your iPhone/iPod touch home screen if you click the “+” icon at the bottom of Safari, then click “Add to Home Screen”
This is great! I do most of my away scheduling on my iphone and being able to see a streamlined version of the site is much faster (yay!) and more streamlined for what is happening when. A note to Ron – I an add to my schedule through the MTH site through my phone – it is just slow and a bit clunky. i am excited to have faster access to this interface as well!
A side note – for all of you looking to sync your MTH with your other calendars on your phones I may have a solution for you – Google Cal! This app will download your MTH calendar with any other calendars you may want to add to it (my daughter’s high school syncs with it , my life calendar, my husband’s work calendar ) and it has saved me! I have used many other calendar programs and was frustrated with the lack of speed and flexibility of them.
Cheers!
Wendy
Yes – More features would be great to an already great app. Will you write an actual app and put it on the android market as well as the App Store for Ipod/phone users? That would be great.
sorry for the duplicate comment, just realized Heidi already asked the same question and you already answered it.
Thanks for the App, it is great!!! Also, thank you for not making it an iphone exclusive.
Thanks so much for the iPhone App! I just wanted to be counted as one of the ones who would LOVE to be able to add a payment or calender even to my website. Thanks for all the hard work!
