Thanks for the insight. In today’s vast media landscape it’s hard to just “keep up” let alone cover ALL the bases. One must prioritize their time and effort carefully lest they get bogged down in relatively insignificant promotional pursuits whether in cyberspace or in print. A lot of work goes into updating my website for DVD guitar lessons to remain high in the search engine rankings. The importance of easy-to-find contact information cannot be overstated. I make myself readily available – to students and non-students, young and not-so-young, computer savvy or not – by providing numerous contact methods in all my promotions. To be more ‘findable,’ when i print new business cards I also get some business card magnets so my students can put them on their fridge. Just a thought . . . .

Good stuff. Regarding being more findable and “contactable,” I would also add that it’s helpful to communicate with parents in the method they prefer. Whiel most parents are probably used to phone and voicemail, one parent I work with prefers text messages. Whenever I text her, she responds very quickly, but no so much with voicemail. Same could be said for email.
